Using ambient light and making good use of sunlight in daylight and night shots make photography more interesting. Whether it's soft light in the morning and dusk or hard light under the sun, as long as there is any lighting it can make your photos more lively than when you don't. The first picture taken with no lighting shows no details on the face of the person. On the contrary, by standing forward to the camera the person in the second picture having her left face illuminated by the spotlight above. The photographer stood in the center of the scene and focused on the right face of the person. The result of the shooting shows details of the right face, which are not only clear but also visually look thinner in the shadow (even with the enlarged photo). This photo is basically backlit, so there is a halo on the hair.

The bottom left picture is taken with a mobile phone. The street light is on the left side of the photographer. And the light source and the photographer makes an angle of about 90 degrees with respect to the subject (person), so it is basically forward lit. Similarly, the person's face details are clear with skinny effect.

Conclusion:
1) Lighting on one side of the model and shooting on the shadow side of the model face not only makes the details of the face clear but also shows a slim visual effect.
2) Suggesting the model to place his or her part of body in the shadow in order to have similar effects of showing more details and slim visually.
3) The face of the model should tilt slightly toward the light source.
4) The effect of lighting makes things different.
